We are very proud of the team we have here at Petite Paws Pet Hotel. Each of our staff are required to complete a Pet CPR & First Aid class and engage in an on going educational course through Fetch Find. We make it a priority to insure that our staff is prepared for any situation that may occur. Our fun loving, animal enthusiastic staff cannot wait to meet your pet, but before you arrive please take a minute to get to know who will be caring for your fur baby whilie in our care.
Petite Paws Pet Hotel is owned by George Seacrist and his wife, Karen who have been married for 42 years. George has an Industrial Education Degree and has been working in the Oil and Gas Industry for 38 years. Karen graduated from Louisiana Tech in 2005. She has worked in many different fields throughout her years from selling Mary Kay cosmetics, working in the dental field, teaching, and raising 2 children.
Daughter-in-law, Lori, put this idea in their head and the research began on how to run a Pet Hotel. So in 2009, they opened their small building with 10 suites! To much of their surprise, they were full the first week they opened. Plans then were made to build a new three thousand square foot building in hopes they could fill it, and they have! George and Karen are so thankful for all the support in helping Petite Paws continue to grow and thrive.
Hi! My name is Lori Seacrist. I am George & Karen's Daughter-in-law, and it is my privilege to be the General Manager of Petite Paws Pet Hotel. The road to getting to here has been long, but one with lots of amazing memories along the way. I am a native of Ruston, LA graduating from Ruston High School in 1999 and then on to Louisiana Tech University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2003. I married Philip Seacrist in 2005 while working at Squire Creek Country Club as a Fitness Trainer.
After 7 years and one daughter, we decided it was time to create a career out of our passion for animals. From this passion that I share with my mother-in-law, Karen, Petite Paws was born! After the first year and a growing demand for our services, I made the full-time leap to Petite Paws. George & Karen needed help, and I was more than happy to step in. Now, with a second daughter and Petite Paws' 10th Anniversary around the corner, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
It’s truly an honor to have the opportunity to care for our community’s pets! We take great pride in what we do, and I take especially great care in making sure that our staff is fully equipped to take on whatever may come our way.
Hello! My name is Karlie Chandler. I was born and raised here in Ruston, LA. I am a graduate from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a degree in Vocal Music Education. I am currently the choir director at West Ridge Middle School in West Monroe, Louisiana. I am newly married and we are the proud parents of our sweet fur baby, Gus! He is our hyper, sweet, stick-loving two year old Patterdale Terrier. I have worked here at Petite Paws on and off for the past five years. I enjoy the fun-loving atmosphere and being a temporary dog-mom to all of our four-legged friends.
My name is Kiley Merritt and I've worked at Petite Paws Pet Hotel since 2017. I’m a mother of three and soon to be college student to finish my degree in nursing. I’ve always been an animal lover for all types of animals... furry, feathered, scaly, big or small! It’s a joy being able to take care of your furry family members daily and thank you so much for entrusting my co-workers and myself with caring for them.
My name is Matthew Watson, and I am 22 years old. I was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi but I was raised in Tallulah, Louisiana. I attended Delhi Charter School until I graduated in 2014, and I am currently in my fifth year at Louisiana Tech University as an Animal Science major with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I have always had a passion for animals and this love led me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, specifically veterinary pathology.
In November of 2017 I rescued my first pet, a cat named Godric. I also have a dachshund, Misty, that lives back home with my parents. I have been working at Petite Paws Pet Hotel since the beginning of Summer of 2018, and I can honestly say this is one of the best jobs I have had to date. Being surrounded by animals and caring for them is so fulfilling.
Maple, like so many, has a story to tell. She had been abandoned and was found with multiple injuries to her head and legs. A Petite Paws neighbor had been trying to care for her, but it didn’t take long and we were asked to step in. It was clear that she needed more medical care than what they could give her. While we are not a rescue, we do when we can help care, treat, foster and adopt out these poor unwanted babies. Petite Paws owner, Karen Seacrist, has participated in many rescues and adoptions over the years and Maple is just one of many that she has saved from a terrible fate.
After getting Maple cleaned up, vetted, and her injuries on the road to recovery we began the process of trying to find her a home. After months and months of sharing her picture and story, taking her to adoptions, and speaking with multiple rescues, we were unable to secure her a furever home so we began to look at alternative options for her. Solution: she was going to become the Petite Paws Mascot!
Maple is an energetic, fun loving two year old pit mix. She loves anyone and everyone especially if you have a treat!!! She loves to play, tear up toys to retrieve the squeaker, but mostly loves to lie on cold concrete floors!! We began Maple's training for her new role in January of 2018 and by the fall of this year she will have obtained her CGC (Certified Good Canine Certificate). We are so proud of the progress she has made and are so excited for what her future holds.
Be on the lookout for great things from Maple! We will be posting her accomplishments and keeping you informed of her activities! Next time you are at Petite Paws make sure you ask to visit Maple! She will be happy to see you and to show you around!!
